The condensing unit for cold room is the core equipment of refrigeration system. Its function is to cool and liquefy the high-temperature, high-pressure refrigerant gas discharged from the compressor, providing continuous power for the refrigeration cycle. The following is a detailed introduction to the types of condensing unit for cold room used:
1. Classification by Cooling Method
Air-cooled Condensing Unit: Air is drawn into the condenser by a fan, and heat is exchanged between the air and the refrigerant, releasing the heat back into the air. It has advantages such as easy installation, simple maintenance, and no need for a cooling water system, making it suitable for small cold storage facilities or applications with low environmental temperature requirements. However, its heat dissipation effect is poor at high temperatures, which may lead to a decrease in refrigeration efficiency.
Water-cooled Condensing Unit: Heat is exchanged between the refrigerant and cooling water, releasing the heat into the cooling water. It has advantages such as good heat dissipation and high refrigeration efficiency, making it suitable for large cold storage facilities or applications with high environmental temperature requirements. However, it requires a cooling water system, including a cooling tower, water pump, and piping, increasing the system's complexity and maintenance costs.
Evaporative condensing units: Combining the advantages of air cooling and water cooling, they utilize the latent heat of vaporization of water to dissipate the refrigerant's condensation heat, effectively lowering the condensing temperature and improving refrigeration efficiency. Suitable for small cooling capacities (≤528kW), but water-cooled systems are superior in large cooling capacities (>1163kW).
2. Classification by Compressor Type
Reciprocating condensing units: Characterized by compact structure and easy maintenance, they are widely used in air conditioning systems, cold storage facilities, and other refrigeration equipment. Air-cooled units typically consist of a semi-hermetic compressor and an air-cooled condenser; water-cooled units typically consist of a compressor and a water-cooled condenser.
Screw condensing units: Composed of a screw compressor and condenser, they are characterized by small size and large cooling capacity. Suitable for medium to large-scale refrigeration applications, such as cold storage facilities, ice-making equipment, and chilled water units.
Scroll condensing units: Using scroll compressors, they offer advantages such as stable operation and low noise. Suitable for applications with high noise requirements, such as hospitals and schools.
